Botox

What do you think of when you see that word?  The Botox picReal Housewives of New York? Hollywood?

Many people have attributed the practice of Botox to plastic, expressionless faces.  However, I would love for you to know that, when administered accurately and conservatively, Botox can really make a dramatic difference to your face in a graceful manner.

So many people are surprised to hear that some dentists are trained to administer Botox.  I always laugh and tell my patients, we handle needles and are specifically trained in the area of the head and neck, who else would you want doing your Botox?  So many patients come to us looking for a beautiful smile.  They want their teeth blindingly white, their smiles straightened, and their confidence restored.  I think it is wonderful to offer a service where we can add to the esthetics they are striving towards...Complete the whole package, if you will.

And it's EASY.  Half an hour in the chair and patients leave with a refreshed face to go along with their glowing smile!  Botox not only reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles, it also prevents them from forming by decreasing hyperactive muscles.  The way that this works is the Botox binds to muscle receptors, deactivating the muscles slightly so that they are not as hyperactive.

Botox is not only used for esthetic purposes.  There is also some clinical evidence showing Botox can aid in decreasing migraine frequency and improving TMD symptoms.

If this is something that interests you, please feel free to schedule a consult in our Needham office.  It is an area which I am very passionate about, and I would love to have a chat with you about it and how it can help!

Sincerely,

Dr. Lisel Balk
