Tooth fillings colored to look like a natural tooth are known as Composite Resin Dental Fillings. Composite Dental Fillings are made of a plastic dental resin, and are strong, durable, and promote a very natural looking smile.
Composite resin fillings are applied in thin layers, and slowly built up to form the complete filling. A bright dental light will harden each layer before the next is applied. Once your filling is completed, our Doctors will use a special paper, articulating paper, to adjust the height of your dental filling and ensure your bite remains balanced. Your tooth is then polished.
We also offer amalgam fillings which are silver colored. These restorations are a reliable alternative to resin restorations. Typically a silver filling is the lowest cost, requires the least "technique" on the dentist´s part, and is covered by most insurance plans. However it is relatively visible (as it is silver), it weakens the tooth, and can require removal of some of the healthy tooth to make room for the material.
