Jon Shusterman, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Jon Shusterman is a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He completed his undergraduate education at The University of Rochester and was awarded his D.M.D. from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He then received his certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Dr. Shusterman maintains a staff appointmentship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry and the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

His hobbies include skiing (snow & water) and is an avid exerciser with his enjoyment of running, swimming  and working out. When Dr. Shusterman is not working he enjoys spending time walking his dog and traveling to NH and Maine. He currently resides in Medfield with his wife Becky their three children and dog Rylie.

Anne Hertzberg, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Anne Hertzberg is a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate education at Colby College, ME, magna cum laude, and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She was awarded her D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston. She received her training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital/Harvard residency program where she was chief resident and was selected for the Farley and Von L. Meyer awards for pursuit of research interests. Her research investigated the association between gastric-esophageal acid reflux and the erosion of teeth. The research was published in the Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition-Europe. Dr. Hertzberg was awarded the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has traveled to Mexico in 2008 and Chile in 2011 to do volunteer dental work.

She has been heavily involved in Combined Jewish Philanthropies and has traveled to Israel and Ukraine with this organization to help the Jewish community locally and internationally.

Dr. Hertzberg maintains a staff appointmentship at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She sits on the executive Board of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and was a past president. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association.

Dr. Hertzberg lives in Needham with her husband, step-son Max, son Luke, and daughter Vivian. During her free time she enjoys boot camp classes, traveling and reading.

Amy Regen, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Amy Regen, a board-certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis and was awarded her D.M.D from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston. At Harvard she was awarded the Silver Medal for all-around scholastic excellence and the Dr. Paul Boyle award for excellence in oral and maxillofacial pathology. Dr. Regen received her training in pediatric dentistry at the Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard residency program where she was chief resident. She was awarded the Richard C. Pugh Achievement Award by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.  Dr. Regen grew up in Lexington , KY and still cheers for University of Kentucky basketball!

Dr. Regen maintains a staff appointmentship at Boston Children’s Hospital /Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While in residency she conducted research in conjunction with the Progeria Research Foundation. Dr. Regen is a past president of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (MAPD) and is currently an executive board member. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and American Dental Association.

In her spare time Dr. Regen enjoys traveling, trying new recipes, yoga, and spending time with her husband and two sons. She has traveled to Israel to volunteer in a pediatric dental clinic.

Keri Peterman, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Keri Peterman, a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, completed her undergraduate education at Boston College and graduated cum laude with a BS in Biology. She was awarded her D.M.D. at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, where she received the Auxiliary Merit Scholar Award and the Award for Senior Student Most Likely to Succeed in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Peterman’s post-doctoral training was completed at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, where she received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.  Dr. Peterman served as chief resident during her second year. She also authored a research project on dental trauma alongside Dr. Howard Needleman.

Dr. Peterman is a member of the American Dental Association, the Massachusetts Dental Society and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Peterman enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, swimming, and biking, and she is a regular participant on the Pan Mass Challenge, a charitable bike-a-thon that raises funds for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Above all, she enjoys spending quality time with her family.

R. Frederick Lambert, D.M.D., M.P.H., M.A.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. R. Frederick Lambert completed his undergraduate education at the College of William and Mary and then completed a Master of Arts in chemistry at Princeton University as a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow. He was awarded his D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. At Harvard, he was awarded the Dr. Norman B. Nesbett Award for excellence in clinical dentistry, the Lois K. Cohen Award for excellence in global health research and the Student Award of Merit from American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Lambert was then awarded the Herschel S. Horowitz Scholarship allowing him to complete a Master of Public Health at the Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health. Dr. Lambert received his training in pediatric dentistry at the Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard residency program where he served as Chief Resident during his second year.

In his spare time Dr. Lambert enjoys traveling, hiking, camping, and spending time with his dogs.

Laila Dantas, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Laila Dantas is a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis. She was awarded her D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she graduated with honors in Community Health for her work with the Homeless Health Initiative. Upon graduation, she completed a general practice residency at the Cambridge Health Alliance / Harvard School of Dental Medicine. As a proud member of the National Health Service Corps, Dr. Dantas served in rural Maine for two years. It was here that she found her passion lay in treating children. Dr. Dantas pursued further training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine. Her academic interests include patients with special health care needs, dental public health and caries prevention.

Dr. Dantas loves to travel. She has participated in dental volunteer work in the US, India and Chile and hopes to continue to volunteer locally and internationally in the future. She enjoys baking, yoga and DIY projects. In her spare time, she can be found outdoors during all seasons, often hiking, biking, snow-shoeing and kayaking with her friends, family and her dog Remus.

Scott Harsfield, D.M.D.

Orthodontist

Dr. Scott Harsfield grew up in Canton. He graduated cum laude from The University of Vermont with a degree in Biological Science in 1996. He then entered Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and was awarded his D.M.D. in May of 2000. Upon graduation, Dr. Harsfield completed a residency at the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine. He then returned to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed the Advanced Education Program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in June of 2004. Dr. Harsfield’s research, Squamous Cell Carcinoma Presenting as Endodontic and Periodontic Lesions, was published in The Journal of Periodontology in 2005. Since completing his orthodontic training, Dr. Harsfield has been an associate at practices on the south shore of Massachusetts and in Rhode Island.

Dr. Harsfield lives in Sharon with his wife, two sons and one daughter. He is an avid Boston sports fan and enjoys biking, skiing and spending time with his family on Cape Cod.

Adam Donnell, D.M.D., M.S.

Orthodontist 

Dr. Adam Donnell, a Board-Certified Orthodontist, was born and raised in Connecticut. He was awarded his D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Donnell served as president of his dental class and was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honors Society. Upon graduation, Dr. Donnell completed an orthodontic residency at the University of Michigan, where he was awarded a Master of Science in Orthodontics. Dr. Donnell is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and serves on boards for the American Association of Orthodontists at the state and national levels.

Dr. Donnell was the 2016 recipient of the Anthony Gianelly Award from the Massachusetts Association of Orthodontists, which recognizes one orthodontist each year for contributing to the field.

His academic interests include novel treatments for temporomandibular disorders. Dr. Donnell lives in Boston with his wife Zoe, their two daughters, and their dog Cody. In their free time they enjoy cheering for Boston sports teams, sailing on the Charles, and traveling to see friends and family.

Erica Frenkel, D.M.D., Ph.D.

Orthodontist

Dr. Erica Frenkel received her undergraduate degree from Barnard College and her dental degree from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. While at Harvard, Dr. Frenkel also worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to complete a Ph.D. in Microbiology. She then moved to Seattle to conduct her orthodontic residency at the University of Washington.

Dr. Frenkel is originally from Akron, Ohio, but, after spending 10 years in Boston for graduate school, she is happy to call Boston her long-term home.

When she is not in the clinic, Dr. Frenkel enjoys running, and spending time with her husband and two kids. They love trying out new restaurants, taking weekend trips to Vermont, and meeting friends.

Sharon Jin, D.M.D., M.M.Sc.

Prosthodontist

Dr. Sharon Jin completed both her D.M.D. and her Prosthodontic Fellowship at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Jin has been awarded the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics research grant for her work on dental ceramic materials, and the Joseph L. Henry award for excellence in clinical skills, research, and collegiality. She is a member of the American Dental AssociationMassachusetts Dental SocietyAmerican College of Prosthodontists, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.

As a prosthodontist, Dr. Jin is a dental specialist who deals with cosmetic dentistry, dental implants, crowns, bridges, dentures, temporomandibular joint disorders, and full mouth rehabilitations. Prosthodontists are highly trained in state-of-the-art techniques and procedures for treating many diverse and complex dental conditions and restoring optimum function and esthetics.

Dr. Jin is also board certified in dental sleep medicine – the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) with dental appliances. These appliances are a “mouth guard-like” device worn only during sleep to maintain an open, unobstructed airway, as an alternative treatment to a Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) machine. Patients like oral appliance therapy because it is comfortable, easy to wear, quiet, portable, and easy to care for.  Dental sleep medicine professionals are an integral part of a patient’s sleep medicine team.

Originally from China, Dr. Jin has also lived in Toronto, Canada, and upstate New York. She completed her undergraduate education at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating magna cum laude with degrees in Anthropology and Biology.

Dr. Jin currently resides in Newton with her family and enjoys reading, cooking, and hanging out with friends.

Richard Strakus, D.M.D.

Dr. Richard Strakus, a general dentist, completed his undergraduate education at the University of Massachusetts – Boston, majoring in biology. He received his D.M.D. summa cum laude from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and, after graduation, completed a two year General Practice Residency at the Brockton VA Hospital and Harvard Dental School.

Dr. Martin Spielmann received his D.M.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine and completed his undergraduate education at the College of the Holy Cross. While in dental school, Dr. Spielmann was the recipient of the ADA/Dentsply Student Clinician Award. His General Practice Residency was completed at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. Michael Miskelly, D.M.D.

Dr. Michael Miskelly received his D.M.D. cum laude from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Prior to dental school he received his B.B.A. degree from the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Nicole Magier, D.M.D.

Shelley McBride, D.M.D.

Cristen Kowalski, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Cristen Kowalski is a board certified Diplomate to the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. She completed her undergraduate education at Boston College in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and was awarded her D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Dr. Kowalski received her Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Boston Children’s Hospital, where she was Chief Resident during her training, and Past Courtesy Staff Member in Pediatric Dentistry. 

Dr.  Kowalski is a Past President of the Massachusetts Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and has served on the Advisory Board for Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School’s Dental Assisting Program.

Dr. Kowalski resides in Southboro with her family. When not watching her boys play hockey in one of the many hockey rinks throughout New England, Dr. Kowalski enjoys vacationing with her family on Cape Cod.

Jonathan Chason, D.M.D.

Orthodontist

Dr. Jonathan Chason, joined Chestnut Dental in 1999. He grew up in Bangor, Maine and received his undergraduate degree from The George Washington University in Washington D.C. Dr. Chason earned his D.M.D. degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated summa cum laude. He continued his education at Tufts University where he earned his Certificate in Orthodontics. His academic interests are in Growth and Development, Functional Appliance Therapy, and Invisalign Clear Aligner Therapy.

Dr. Chason lives in Bolton, MA with his wife, Laura, their six children and two dogs. He is an avid skier, adventurous eater and Patriot’s fan. He also loves a lively debate, silly joke and exploring the world.

Benjamin Roth, D.M.D.

Orthodontist 

Dr. Benjamin Roth, a Board-Certified Orthodontist, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and earned his Doctorate at Temple University. He continued his post graduate studies at Albert Einstein Medical Center, completing a one-year General Practice Residency and a three-year specialty Orthodontic Residency. While earning his certificate in Orthodontics, Dr. Roth also completed his thesis at the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic in Lancaster, Pennsylvania-gaining special insight into the treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate. Dr. Roth loves working with children and families, and developing smiles that can last a lifetime. 

In his free time, Dr. Roth enjoys spending time with his wife and daughters and their rescue dog, Uno. He is an avid cook, and can often be found trying to duplicate his favorite restaurant dishes. Dr. Roth also enjoys running marathons and skiing.

Debra Blattman, D.M.D.

Dr. Deb Blattman earned her D.M.D. magna cum laude from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine after receiving her B.S. degree magna cum laude from University of California, San Diego. She was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society and is a member of the American Dental Association. Dr. Blattman has been practicing general dentistry for over 10 years. While she enjoys all aspects of dentistry, she particularly loves esthetic dentistry and making patients feel good about their smile.

Dr. Nora Zaki received her D.M.D. summa cum laude from Tufts School of Dental Medicine and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology summa cum laude from Northeastern University. She also has a Certificate in Dental Hygiene.

Dr. Zaki has traveled extensively to Cairo, Egypt and San Pedro Sula, Honduras with a medical/dental humanitarian group offering free dental services. She has traveled to Egypt to conduct a public health research study regarding tobacco use. This research was presented as a poster at the AADR (American Association of Dental Research) annual meeting and in the Tufts Bates-Andrews Day Research Competition.

Dr. Zaki is a Member of the Academy of General Dentistry and the American Dental Association.

In her spare time, Dr. Zaki enjoys kayaking, biking, and traveling with her husband and three children.

Nomith Ramdev, D.M.D.

Periodontist

Dr. Ramdev earned his D.M.D. from Tufts School of Dental Medicine. He did his dental residency at Brigham and Women’s Hospital Harvard-Wide General Practice Residency Program. After completing his residency in 2000, Dr. Ramdev accepted a faculty position at Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, and also practiced general dentistry in the Harvard Group Faculty Practice.  In 2002, Dr. Ramdev joined Massachusetts General Hospital as an Attending General Dentist, and maintained his faculty position with Harvard University School of Dental Medicine.

He completed his postdoctoral training in Periodontics at Case Western University, where he received training in all phases of Periodontal and Implant Therapy, with advanced training in conscious I.V. sedation. He has been practicing Periodontics for over 10 years.

Dr. Ramdev is a board certified Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.  He is an active member of the American Dental Association, New Hampshire Dental Society, and the Seacoast Esthetic Dentistry Association.

In his free time, Dr. Ramdev enjoys golf, tennis and biking with his wife and children.

Rebecca Gollub, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist

Dr. Rebecca Gollub completed her undergraduate education at Dartmouth College, where she majored in Neuroscience and was a member of the women’s rowing team. She then attended Boston University School of Dental Medicine, where she was awarded her D.M.D, graduated Summa Cum Laude, and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.

Following dental school, Dr. Gollub went on to complete her pediatric dentistry residency at the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia where she served as Chief Resident and is currently board-eligible for the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Gollub is originally from St. Louis, Missouri. In her spare time, she enjoys exercising and staying active, travel, and loves any kind of arts and crafts.

Howard Needleman, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist, Retired

Dr. Howard Needleman completed his undergraduate education at Rutgers University, New Jersey, magna cum laude. He was awarded his D.M.D. from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, Boston cum laude where he received the Nesbett Award for Excellence in Clinical Dentistry and Gold Medal for Scholastic Excellence upon graduation. He received his training in pediatric dentistry at the Children’s Hospital/Harvard residency program where he was Chief Resident and was awarded the Sidney Farber House Officer Award for the most outstanding resident within the hospital in 1973-74.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Senior Associate at Boston Children’s Hospital, and Clinical Professor of Pediatric Dentistry at the Harvard School of Dentistry. Dr. Needleman has been an active researcher and lecturer locally, nationally, and internationally. He has published over 75 articles in the field of pediatric dentistry and has authored many chapters in and been editor of numerous medical and dental textbooks. He has received many awards since graduation some of which include the Distinguished Faculty Award from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine, the Pierre Fauchard Academy Award for Outstanding Dentist in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1995, and the Allard Award for outstanding service to the cause of preventing abuse and neglect from the Massachusetts Dental Society.

Dr. Needleman has been a local and national spokesperson for the American Dental Association and the Massachusetts Dental Society. In addition, he is an expert witness for the Department of Health, Division of Health Professions Licensure/Board of Registration of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and for many civil and criminal lawsuits involving negligent dental care to children across the country.

Stephen Shusterman, D.M.D.

Pediatric Dentist, Retired

Dr. Stephen Shusterman earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and was awarded the D.M.D. degree, cum laude, from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He completed an internship and residency in Pediatric Dentistry at Boston Children’s Hospital and Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He served in the United States Army, and was the Chief of Pediatric Dentistry, Internship Program, at General Leonard Wood Army Hospital, Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. While at Tufts, he was inducted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Dental Honor Society.

Dr. Shusterman is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is Dentist-in-Chief, Emeritus, at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and has held several national committee positions. He is also Associate Clinical Professor of Developmental Biology (Pediatric Dentistry) at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is the recipient of both the Distinguished Faculty Award and the Distinguished Alumni Award from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Shusterman is also a member of the consultant staff of both the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and the Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

Dr. Shusterman’s major academic interests are in the area of cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. He lectures widely on the subject and has traveled to China twice to speak on the Children’s Hospital Protocol for infants with cleft lip and palate as a representative of the Canada China Child Health Foundation. Academically, he is a lecturer on Behavioral Guidance, Space Maintenance and Clefts/Craniofacial Anomalies in the pre-doctoral program at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He has authored or co-authored many articles and chapters in journals and textbooks of Dentistry and Medicine.

Richard Bruun, D.D.S.

Orthodontist, Retired

Dr. Bruun, an orthodontist, and pediatric dentist, completed his undergraduate education at SUNY Stonybrook and was awarded his D.D.S. from SUNY Stonybrook School of Dental Medicine. He completed his training in orthodontics at the Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry and his training in Pediatric Dentistry at the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

He is a Senior Associate at Boston Children’s Hospital and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Oral and Developmental Biology at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He is a member of the Cleft Lip and Palate and Craniofacial Teams at Boston Children’s Hospital. He is also the co-director of the Fellowship in Craniofacial Orthodontics at Boston Children’s Hospital. Dr. Bruun’s academic interests include cleft lip and palate and craniofacial anomalies. 

Dr. Bruun became an administrative partner in 2009, consulting with his partner group on various patient cases and practice initiatives until his retirement from Chestnut Dental in 2017.

Jack Hertzberg, D.M.D.

Orthodontist, Retired

Dr. Jack Hertzberg, an orthodontist, and pediatric dentist, completed his undergraduate education at Case Western Reserve University and was awarded his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania. He received his training in orthodontics at the Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry and his training in Pediatric Dentistry at the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Senior Associate (emeritus) at Boston Children’s Hospital, Adjunct Professor at Boston Children’s Hospital, and clinical instructor (emeritus) in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. His academic interests include Invisalign® and occlusal development and orthodontics in the dental curriculum.

Dr. Hertzberg and his wife, Lorraine, reside in Newton. They have four children – Anne, Emily, Neal, and Bradley. His oldest daughter, Anne is a pediatric dentist at Chestnut Dental and also holds academic appointments at Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Hertzberg treated patients in our Needham office from 1977 until his well-deserved retirement in 2018.
